The Association of Model Agents
The difference between the Association of Model Agents and Albamodel.info is that Alba is a totally independent public advice service and not linked with or run by any model agency.
The Association of Model Agents (AMA) is a small self-governing group of model agencies (18) that have set their own standards regarding conduct. They will provide you with a list of their members along with the strict criteria that they expect models to fit dealing more with high fashion and not the vast selection of modelling categories such as Commercial and Petite modelling, Character, plus -size, Glamour, parts and Classic Modelling (over age 30)
NOTE: If you do apply to an agency that is Association of Model Agents (AMA) recommended and are accepted for an interview please ensure you ask about the full amount that you will eventually have deducted from your earnings in commission and also the amount you will have to pay back to the agency for things such as photographs and training as well as cash advances ( whilst waiting for clients to pay), model house /apartment rent, this is deducted from your earnings/fees once you start undertaking modelling assignments. So although these agencies will not usually charge fees up front, they will expect you to pay them back the credit that they have advanced so like any loan or credit you will need to know what interest (if any) will be charged and how much your are going to have to repay from your assignment fees.
To save you the cost of the call and postage we have the information that the Association of Model Agents (the AMA) will send to you below which you can print from this site for free:
Please do also refer to the vast amount of information that ALBA provides for you on our site about all of the aspects of modelling and see our ALBA A - list of Agents page for a printable list of the 70 + agencies that we recommend as well as the AMA agencies.

AMA Advice Sheet (2008)
A female model should be at least 5ft 8ins tall (1 .73cms) and more or less 34-24-34(86cm-6lcm-86cm). A male model should be at least 6ft tall (l.83cms), Chest 40 (suit regular) inside leg 33ins (84cm). They should have clear skin, good hands, nails and teeth, healthy hair and regular features.
Apart from these physical characteristics, a model must be alert, intelligent, resourceful, reliable, good-natured and must also have a great deal of commonsense.
Needless to say few young people have all these attributes. Those that do have them must then go on to learn various skills models need to survive in a business with high running costs.
It is unlikely that you are one of the very small number of young people capable of getting established as a model, but if you still want to pursue the idea you should send two photographs, one showing your face and another showing what your shape is, together with details of height, measurements and age to one or more of the agents on the enclosed list. ENCLOSING A STAMPED ADDRESSSED ENVELOPE LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHS TO BE RETURNED.
Thank you for your enquiry, if you do decide to drop the idea of modelling, good luck in whatever you decide to do.
